Hi, I’m Yas a Director and Video Producer from London with over 7 years’ experience.

As a filmmaker, I love using my storytelling skills, production skills and passion for film to inspire and entertain audiences. Most recently, I’ve worked on a couple of music videos and worked on branded content for The Guardian. At the BBC I directed, produced and presented a short documentary film about the many faces of empathy. It reached over 340,000 and was in the top ten films on the site and was shared across BBC News’ social channels. I’ve also worked on a Webby Award-winning film about the oceans and learnt my craft shooting and capturing sound on a wide range of films for BBC Ideas.

As an indie filmmaker, I’ve enjoyed leading on shoots and developing my craft. I have one short film in development and another to be released in 2025.

I also work as Social Producer / Content Executive, creating compelling copy and assets for brands using my knowledge of the social landscape and platforms to target audiences exceeding 2 million. In these roles, I have captured people’s attention, managed social accounts, influenced social strategy, led with a results driven approach, made memes for award winning TV shows and films, introduced exciting new formats and worked with high profile talent like Ralph Fiennes, Little Simz, Stormzy and Andrew Garfield.

Selected clients : British GQ - VICE - The Guardian - BBC Three - BBC Radio 1 - BBC Ideas - BBC Reel - Mercury Prize.

My work as a creative has also been informed by my roles in film curation. I began my career as one of the youngest full time film programmer’s in the UK. I used my love of film to introduce audiences of all ages to amazing films with a focus on independent and international films through selecting films for screenings in cinemas and film festivals across the country and hosting events.

Outside of work: I’m usually with friends, in the cinema, cooking, doing introverts things, watching comedies + dramas or being outdoors.
